Born into a wealthy family. Married first to Sir William Springett, who died in the Civil War.

1654

After years as a widow and spiritual seeker, married Isaac Penington. Together they found the Quakers.

1658

Together with Isaac, convinced of Quaker truth after years of searching among Puritans and Independents.

1682

Died three years after Isaac. Her autobiography was published much later in 1821.

Together their writings give a fully dimensional picture of one of the great Quaker households.

Penn married her daughter Gulielma Springett.
